the 5th day of Christmas!

This is one of my favorite things to share with others about the Christmas representative significance of the m&m. I was given this story a few years ago from a friend, and have passed it on through the years since.

Here is the really unsatisfactory poem we attached to it. Definitely a prime example of why you don’t create a poem in a great hurry. Where it says “They’ve never been the same for me” I left out “since”. Oh well, do you think they got the basic gist?
Sorry about the quality of these pictures, the lighting wasn’t the greatest and like I said, I was in a hurry, so I don’t even have a great picture of the m&ms themselves. When I received this poem originally, the m&ms were in a clear glass ornament, sitting in a box with a fold down lid. when you raised the lid, the poem was taped to the underside. It was really beautiful! I wanted to do that too, but after looking for clear ornaments in 3 or 4 different stores, I decided the important thing was that the poem just came with the m&m and it wasn’t important how. You could actually just tape it to a bag of m&ms and that would be good enough.
{excuse the water bottle. I didn’t notice it until after the picture was taken and after I removed it, the pictures just kept coming out blurry. Probably due to my anxiety about getting to where we were going.}
I learned from this that it’s a good thing to always keep cellophane bags on hand. I seem to be defaulting to them a lot lately.
Happy gifting!
