As soon as I spotted this shirt at our local thrift shop, I knew I was going to buy it! It was a great price. But I don’t normally like to wear stripes since the general fashion world advises against it, claiming that the stripes make you look wider than you are. And they do. But I have seen so many cute outfits put together with stripes lately and was dying to try it. This shirt was the perfect style and color. All except for- the sleeves. I love this open cap sleeve for my little girls, but not for me. So when I was visiting at my Mother’s and my talented sister-in-law was with me, I asked her to gather up the sleeve on the opening in three gathers and sew it off with a simple needle and thread. While I was still wearing it:
And then we topped it off with a button.
Didn’t she do a great job?!
I love this shirt and wear it all the time now.
Some day I’ll have to show you the whole shirt…I don’t know why we didn’t get a picture of it in it’s entirety.
Who knows what I’m thinking half the time?
Hope this inspires you to resue something you love with a simple fix!
Oh, please leave a comment to let me know you dropped by! I love to hear your thoughts. 😉

I am wearing a shirt with sleeves exactly like that right now! I felt they weren't quite my style also – so excited to try this!
