It's a SIGN!

I repainted my kitchen a few months ago and although I wasn’t thrilled with the way it turned out, I was excited about a project I did that I’d been wanting to try for quite some time. You’ve seen it all over blog land and have probably succesfully made one of your own. The moment I saw the use of these hose rings to hold jars, I knew I was going to make one of my own. I have had the old canning jars sitting on a shelf in my food storage for a few years, and found the rings for maybe a nickel a piece at a yard sale. It took me quite awhile to decide what kind of sign would accurately describe my kitchen though. Then one day it hit me all at once! If there is one thing I do, unfailing, every year
it’s canning. So here is the reveal of the sign that now hangs above our kitchen sink.

Using an old fence board the children had previously painted, saved me time and already had the look I was going for. I free handed the words.  I’m not too patient when it comes to most projects and I didn’t want to take the time to find a stencil that would have the letter style I was looking for. The rings were a complete bear to put a screw through (as easy as the process seems it should be), but using a flat head in my screw gun, and holding the ring firmly with the other hand, I was able to make a space large enough for a screw to fit through. It was relatively easy assembly after that.

(sorry for the blur and poor lighting on this one)
I’m pretty happy with how the sign looks. It really adds some instant style. What do you think?
Any ideas on  what to put in those fun canning containers?!

As for the kitchen color? Well, maybe after I change it to my satisfaction, I will share what it looks like. As for right now, you’ll just have to be satisfied to know that it’s currently as you see here….

Sage Green. Although it’s pleasant, it’s more of a color I’d use in a bedroom.
Don’t worry though! I have a color in mind. *wink*
HUGS,
