I really wanted to hang mistletoe in our house this year. My mother always had some hanging in our entryway when we were growing up. There were a few years where I had some, but one year when I pulled it out, it looked bad, so I threw it out and haven’t had any since. It was while I was looking around for this mistletoe that this idea evolved to make a sign to hang in our entry way.
It was super simple to make, I just cleaned up an old fence board, painted it with some extra homemade chalk paint I had on hand and printed out the words in a font and size I liked. I used carbon paper to transfer the words with a pencil and painted over them with a small angled brush using Ceramcoat acrylic paint in the color Charcoal. I’ve had this hook I found at the thrift shop for some time and knew I was going to use it for something fun some day.
I haven’t made a sign in quite some time, this was really fun to do.
I love the way it turned out.
Here it is hanging over our kitchen fireplace mantel, you’ll have to join me on my Christmas home tour later to see where it ended up!
How are your Christmas preparations coming along?
Hope you’ll join me again soon.
Hugs,
Sweet sign. I love the hook for the mistletoe. Ingenious! xoox
