Numbered Hat Boxes and exciting news!

I bought these hat boxes at a yard sale years ago for my girls’ room.

They used them for organizing things in there for a long time and just recently asked me to take them out. Originally they had fabric cushioning on the top, so I just painted them with a latex paint and applied glitter.

I had great ideas of decorating them all “girly”, but never quite got around to it. By the time I got them back, one of the lids was crushed. Knowing it needed to be replaced, I decided to replace them all with some really thin plywood a friend of mine wanted out of her garage and gave to me.

It was perfect!
I cut them out on my scroll saw. The blade is thin, so they didn’t turn out perfectly round.
Once I inserted them, the imperfections didn’t show. I used a hot glue gun to secure them.
Although I liked the look of them, they didn’t look finished, so I added numbers with stencils I made using my cricut.
Then finished the edges with jute.
They turned out perfect for organizing a desk space, I think. But we’ll see.
They are now at the shop waiting to be snagged by the perfect person looking for some fun, but functional, organizing boxes!
Now the exciting news…
Those that follow me regularly know that I have been participating in Project Challenge.

For those of you that don’t know what this is, each month we have a challenge to use an assigned material and make something from it. This month is linen and/or leather. It has been so much fun to see what everyone comes up with…but now we are adding a linky party too!! Yay!
What does that mean to you? It means that now you get to participate and share with us what you came up with using these items. The post can be origional or old, no pressure. So come back in 2 days and see what we’ve all come back with and join in on the fun as well!

See you in two days…
Hugs,
