Because I love to decorate the entryway, it is my choice for special spaces today!
Welcome back to the Bringing Christmas Home tours for our last day of the week. I hope you’ve enjoyed all the wonderful homes and have a chance to see everyone else’s special spaces after visiting with me 😉
I had a vision in my mind of how I wanted the entry to look this year, and even though it didn’t quite come together the way I pictured, it still gives you the feeling I was going for when you walk in.
I have been really keeping my decorations a lot more natural and simple this year. It has been a lot more relaxing this way in that if something gets done, then I can put it up, or I just don’t. No stress, just pure enjoyment of the process.
I will admit that this Ice Skate Rentals sign is the one thing that totally didn’t go as I planned. I’m still not fond of it. I realized I would have been happier making the words red instead, but for now, it will have to do. With another knee surgery on the horizon just before Christmas, I don’t have any more time to put into it.
For those of you that have seen my other home tours, you might have noticed that there is always a different chair in the entry. We keep a chair here for putting on shoes and, I admit, time outs. It’s the perfect location. It is also where I put incoming and outgoing things like the presents that I just barely wrapped and haven’t quite made it under the tree yet.
This is the view coming down the stairs. I decided to put the village on the armoir this year so that it can be easily seen as we descend. It’s so fun, even though the view from the entry ground isn’t so easily enjoyed, the village is viewed far more up here than it was on the sofa table last year.
I brought in a branch that fell from our pine in the back yard. It was natures gift to me at just the time I wanted one. 😉
Twinkle lights make everything special, don’t you think?
I thought of putting a couple of pine wreaths on the doors of the armour, but with the feather wreath I got from Fred Meyer and the cute wreath my daughter made at school, I decided to keep them plain.
The chicken wire card holder is made from a door I made too small for my chicken wire cupboard. I stained it with red mahogany and used old fashioned clothespins because that’s all we had. The girls like to use clothespins for projects all the time. I’m eventually going to add some glitter bling on these. The girls will love helping me with that!
My favorite part of the entry this year is the hall console. I love everything that is on this table. First I made another live evergreen swag. I absolutely LOVE this coastal lamp I bought at Home Goods this year. It sits on top of the fence board table runner I made for my fall centerpiece display. The glass candle holder is one I bought as a pair that I saw at the thrift store and didn’t buy the first time I saw it because it was too expensive. I went back last week and found them half price because of a green tag special.
YIPPEE!!
I couldn’t believe they were still there!
I just couldn’t resist this mercury glass tree either. I fell in love with this one the first time I saw it, so when it went on half price at Fred Meyer with a coupon for an extra 10% off in their add, it was too good a deal to pass up!
The mitten garland was so much fun to make!! I love that it can be strung and displayed all through the winter months.
I will be sharing another one I made at the same time from an old coat. It is from the original idea. This fleece mitten garland was actually my trial run that turned out better than expected.
Love that!!
This centerpiece has been floating all over the house this season. I have fun changing out what’s in it. The foundation for it is pine from our tree, deer antlers, branch rounds, and mercury glass ornaments. I stuck some greenery and berries that the family brought home from a wedding bouquet they got at our nephew’s wedding while they were in Utah last week. I put a candle in the birch tree candle holder when it’s in the kitchen
Well, that wraps up my tour for special spaces, now go check out the other fun tours for today,
I love the loads of inspiration they come along with!!
