The weather is hot here in the afternoons, but still nice and cool in the mornings, which makes early morning baking perfect. I thought I’d take advantage of the cool weather and a couple of really ripe bananas to bake some yummy Nana’s Banana bread.
I’ve baked a lot throughout my 24 years of marriage and made a lot of breads. I’ve come to the point in my experience baking, that unless I taste a bread that tops the recipe I’ve been using in taste and texture, I just won’t use any other. I’ve had some real gross experiences. I’m willing to try a new recipe, but when I find one that is as close to perfection as I’ve found, I pretty well stick with it not wanting to have another bad experience. Kinda like when you go to a restaurant where you loved what you ordered one time, and then the next time is not good at all….if you’ve experienced this then you know what I mean.
Nana’s Banana Bread recipe came to me in the mail somehow. Probably when I signed up for a magazine or something. It was complete with a picture that looked yummy. I generally love banana bread, but now that I’ve tried this recipe, I just won’t use any other, so when I found that I had some really ripe bananas and was going to put them to good use in my bread, I thought you would want to enjoy the recipe too. The bananas I use are so ripe, you wouldn’t want to just peel and eat them, but are not rotten. The riper the bananas are, the tastier the bread…
My children love the bread, so it doesn’t last long. I was just barely able to get a few shots of it before it was all gone, but not before it was cut up.
That makes me happy, but difficult when I’m making it to give away. 😉
Just after my sweetie finished this one, she was asking for another piece.
Love that smile!
I sure hope you are enjoying your summer break. We just got back from a mini vacation to the Great Wolf Lodge in Grand Mound Washington (which was a blast, you should check into them-there are many locations throughout the country) and are getting ready for another two in Portland Oregon and to the Coast for the 4th, so I will be sharing here and there when I can.
I love the lazy days of summer!
Don’t forget to come back Friday to see my next summer home tour by Colleen from Kaydeross Creek!
Toodles,
I need to have my Mom make me some of her Banana Nut Bread. One of my favs.
