Summer Home Tour Series- {Dragonfly & Lily Pads}

I will admit I have been a very poor blogger lately. I have been running like mad with my children and trying to keep it slow enough to enjoy my children. Though the weeks seem to be flying by, they also seem to be long. I have really enjoyed having these wonderful guests here and have loved that they are willing to share their wonderful homes with us. Each one has been unique with many special touches. Today I’m happy to share a friend of mine. Have you ever met Karen
from Dragonfly nd Lily Pads?

She is one of the sweetest people you will ever come to know, so let’s get on with her tour, shall we?!
I am thrilled to be opening my door to my lake home for the 2016 Summer tour Series. When Michele asked me to be a part of her series I was honored to be included on  her Shelstring Blog.  Thank you for your generosity of time and space to coordinate this beautiful event.
                          Step into the entry as you are welcomed by summer colors from the start with a warm sandy toes  greeting and baskets to gather your belongs while you visit.

 Cricket has her pink dinosaur at the ready for a game of keep away. The kitchen is galley style with no windows. I splashed a bit of spring green with the towel and spoon rest. I found this silly print to brighten over the sink of men climbing ladders in swim suits.

Lets follow with rooms of necessity to the bathroom. Utility plus storage are absolutely key since we have only one as of now. Soft shades of blue and green compliment nature and bring the outside into our home. There is no linen closet in the house. Thank goodness for +Pier 1 Imports! I was able to fill these shelves with enough bath storage to easily have 11 or 12 guests. This area of our home is never still as you can imagine. I use brighter colors for the summer months.
 Carrying the bright colors throughout our home. It truly makes our house feel large to us. I kept the warm wool blanket for the chill of the air conditioner after a day in the sun. The pillows can be changed as the season changes and the comforters are reversible. This is one of my favorite vignettes because of the textures, colors and mix of materials blending together softly sending a message of lazy summer days.
Here is where we lay our heads when Prince Charming and I are home. The afghan was made by my mom and I use it for summer on our bed. The quilt reverses to reveal a second look for cooler weather. The scene below is decorated with heart bookends, an antique mirror with a summer picture of a lake. All blended looks to keep a collected over time design.

The living and Dining room are a generous room which is wonderful for gathering large groups or a cozy night watching the sunset. I use light beach colors in these two rooms. Shades of blue, green, and peach are popping up here or there. Even if it is pouring rain it is a happy place. Again I am sure to use different textures, fabrics and I love the stone fireplace centering our home. Wood and stone candle holders help anchor the decor.

The porch is interior but even dragonflies have friends. We found this frog the first year we lived here. She is the perfect accent for the lighthearted feeling of our home. Also on the porch we have a baby basket filled with towels near the door for those quick dips in the lake.

One of the places we spend the most time in the summer is our patio. Included are a few pictures of a dining, sitting, and chilling spot.

 Enjoy your summer and thanks for stopping over! Feel free to let me know when your in my neighborhood. Since visiting your delightful readers Michele, I hope we’ve begun a new friendship.
Lets keep our friendship going by following each other’s social media. That is how I met Michele and I am one lucky girl.
